Your Files Never Leave Your Browser

100% Client-Side Processing

Conversions run locally in your browser using the Canvas API, with Web Workers used when supported. Your image data stays on your device and is never uploaded to any server.

No Account. No Tracking of File Contents.

We use Google Analytics and Google AdSense for aggregated traffic stats and contextual ads when consent allows it. Theme and language preferences stay in your browser. We never see, read, or store the images you convert.

Open About Our Limits

Browser-based conversion has trade-offs: large files (>50 MB) may hit memory limits; animated GIF output flattens to a single frame; EXIF metadata is stripped; ICC color profiles may differ across browsers.

Why convert AVIF to JPG?
AVIF is a modern format with excellent compression but limited compatibility — older browsers, apps, and devices may not open AVIF files. Converting to JPG gives you universal compatibility: every browser, operating system, photo app, and image viewer supports JPG.
Will I lose quality converting AVIF to JPG?
Some quality loss occurs because both AVIF and JPG use lossy compression. The conversion decodes the AVIF and re-encodes as JPG. At 85% quality (the recommended setting), results are visually indistinguishable for photographs. For lossless output, convert to PNG instead.
Is it safe to convert AVIF files online?
With tooldev.app, yes. All conversion happens directly in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files are never uploaded to any server and never leave your device.
Does JPG support transparency like AVIF?
No. JPG does not support transparency. If your AVIF image has a transparent background, it will be filled with white when converted to JPG. To preserve transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.
What quality setting should I use when converting AVIF to JPG?
85% quality is the recommended starting point for most photos — visually indistinguishable from lossless at a fraction of the file size. Use 90–95% for print or archiving where quality is critical. Use 70–75% for social media or email where smaller files matter more. The quality slider is available in the converter above.
